The Mayor of Celleno, Italy, has renewed an invitation to newlyweds Dua Lipa and Callum Turner to spend part of their honeymoon in the town's ghost village, offering them privacy and an abundance of local cherries. This invitation follows the couple's wedding in Palermo and their Italian honeymoon, with Celleno being a short distance from Rome. The town, known for its Cherry Festival, promises a paparazzi-free experience, allowing the couple to enjoy the authentic beauty and history of the Tuscia region.
The Municipality of Celleno has renewed its official invitation to pop superstar Dua Lipa and actor Callum Turner, offering them a paparazzi-free honeymoon in its celebrated ghost village, complete with an endless supply of local cherries. The gesture follows the couple’s wedding in Palermo and their ongoing Italian honeymoon, which has taken them through Sicily, Calabria, and a stop in Naples, where they were spotted strolling through the historic center. According to reports, the newlyweds also stopped by the Trevi Fountain in Rome yesterday. Given that Celleno sits just 100 km from the Capital - reachable in just 90 minutes - it’s easy to imagine, and hope, that after the South the couple may have made their way to Central Italy, right to the Capital itself, making the short trip on to Celleno anything but far-fetched. Once in Rome, it’s also conceivable the couple might take a dedicated trip to Civita di Bagnoregio, the famous “dying town,” located right next to Celleno’s ghost village.
Mayor Luca Beraldo publicly renewed the town’s offer of hospitality, promising the couple maximum privacy away from the lenses of international photographers, in the timeless setting of Celleno Vecchia. Located in the historic Tuscia region, in the province of Viterbo, about 90 minutes from Rome, the town of 1,200 residents is known throughout Italy as the “Cherry Town.” In recent years it has increasingly become a destination for slow, discreet, and private tourism, far from the crowds and media pressure that follow celebrity travel. The timing, moreover, couldn’t be better: the invitation comes right at the close of the town’s renowned Cherry Festival.
Celleno, in fact, offers a way to discover the Tuscia region - a land brimming with beauty, greenery, flavor, and history, in places still untouched by mass tourism: a genuinely authentic corner of Italy, perfectly suited to a couple who, over these weeks of honeymooning through villages and historic centers far from red carpets, have shown a real passion for the true, unfiltered Italy.
“Palermo gave her and Callum a fairytale celebration worthy of their love,” Mayor Beraldo stated. “But here in Celleno, our beloved ‘Cherry Town,’ we’d like to offer them something even rarer: total privacy, genuine safety, and a sweet taste of our land. As our famous Cherry Festival comes to a close, we want to welcome them with an endless supply of our finest local cherries. Here, surrounded by ancient history and volcanic lakes, they can simply be themselves - away from the world, together. After the party of the century in Palermo, let their forever begin here. And if they’d like to venture further afield, Tuscia still has so much to offer: Capranica, with its perfectly preserved medieval village, Bomarzo with its magical, surreal Park of Monsters, the waters of Lake Bolsena, and Viterbo, the City of the Popes, with its renowned thermal spas. This is a region that tells the story of the real Italy - the one the masses have yet to discover.”
To guarantee the couple absolute privacy alongside the ultimate experience, the Mayor has once again pledged a total lockdown of the ghost village for the duration of their visit: every entry point to the town would be closed, with dedicated law enforcement stationed to shield them from photographers and ensure complete privacy. Celleno Vecchia, recognized as one of the most beautiful ghost villages in Italy, sits perched on a volcanic cliff with sweeping views over spectacular valleys. Added to this is the pledge of an endless supply of locally grown cherries through the end of the season, in the coming days. A honeymoon in the area would also grant the high-profile couple private access to extraordinary local treasures - from the crystal-clear waters of Lake Bolsena, to the iconic hilltop plateau of Civita di Bagnoregio, to the rolling hills along the borders of neighboring Umbria and Tuscany.
