Halton Community Unite to Reclaim the Night

Local women’s organisation invites community to join solidarity walk at Victoria Park, Widnes

Fortuna Female Society is calling on the community across Halton to join them for Reclaim the Night 2025 on Friday, 26 September at 6:00 PM, beginning at the Bandstand in Victoria Park, Widnes.

The solidarity walk will circle the park, bringing people together in a powerful demonstration to end violence against women and girls and promote safer streets for all. The event emphasises visibility, unity, and ensuring voices are heard in the campaign for safety and equality.

“Reclaim the Night is about taking up space and making our message clear,” said Laura Bevan, Chair of Fortuna Female Society. “We will not be silent. Violence against women and girls stops here.”

The event will feature participation from key community organisations and officials, including Halton Borough Council Domestic Abuse Service, Runcorn Women’s Institute, Papyrus, Soroptimist International of Widnes, the Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner, and Cheshire Police.

Additional women’s groups and local community safety organisations are welcome to participate.

The event schedule includes an empowering warm-up at 6:30 PM, followed by one lap walk around the park, finishing at the bandstand for speeches and inspiring words.
