Mud, Teamwork and Big Smiles as Junior Warrior Returned to Bramham Park Estate in June

At a glance

Over 1,000 young people from North Yorkshire Scouts and Girl Guides participated in a 3-kilometre obstacle course at Bramham Park on 24th and 25th June as part of the Junior Warrior event. The event, which adapts the adult Total Warrior course for younger participants, aims to provide a fun and supportive environment for young people to challenge themselves and work together. Since its inception in 2019, Junior Warrior has grown significantly, becoming a key event in North Yorkshire's calendar.

More than 1,000 young people from North Yorkshire Scouts and North Yorkshire Girl Guides got stuck in mud, water and obstacles on a 3-kilometre obstacle course as Junior Warrior returned to Bramham Park on the 24th & 25th of June.

The event gave young people a chance to take on a specially adapted course designed for them.

Junior Warrior is the annual takeover of the Total Warrior course, which is designed for adults, giving young people the opportunity to take on a specially adapted obstacle course.

The event provided a fun and supportive environment where young people could test themselves, work together, and celebrate achieving something outside of their comfort zone. One Scout said:

“It was so nice to cool down in the water, super fun!”

Another young person added:

“My favourite part was going down the big yellow slide and going through the mud!”

Junior Warrior has continued to grow since it first began in 2019, when 500 young people took part. Since then, the event has grown year on year, welcoming more than 1,000 young people from across North Yorkshire and becoming one of the highlights of the county’s events calendar.

The success of Junior Warrior reflects the scale and variety of opportunities available through North Yorkshire Scouts. Across the county, 10 Scout Districts bring together more than 100 Scout Groups, offering everyday adventure and activities for young people through more than 400 sections.

From Squirrels (ages 4 to 6) and Beavers (ages 6 to 8), through to Cubs (ages 8 to 10½), Scouts (ages 10½ to 14), Explorers (ages 14 to 18) and Scout Network (ages 18 to 25), young people of all ages are supported to build confidence, learn new skills and take part in experiences that help them grow.
